How can your skills and experience serve the Association well?
Since entering librarianship in 2014, I have worked in every level and had experience in all kinds of differing responsibilities and roles. This gives me insight into what a lot of Christian librarians are doing or going through, and will allow me to serve members with compassion and understanding. I have also volunteered in many capacities within ACL so I’m very familiar with its leadership and operations.
How does your Christian faith shape your perspective on leading well?
I like to tell people that I’m a librarian professionally, and a missionary vocationally, so I do everything I do for Christ, the advancement of God’s will, and the growth of His kingdom. I do not take leading lightly, and always keep in mind that Jesus calls us to lead with humility, compassion, and righteousness.
How has ACL encouraged or equipped you as a librarian?
ACL has been my anchor in librarianship. I have been mentored by many amazing librarians, I have had the opportunity to mentor others, and have grown in my skills and knowledge through the listserv and through conferences. A network of support like ACL is rare in other fields, and I will do my utmost to preserve and advance it.

How can your skills and experience serve the Association well?
I served on the Board and the Spiritual Encouragement Team, which gave me great insight into the workings of ACL. I have worked with budgets throughout most of my career, and am currently responsible for a medium sized library’s budget. Nearly every job that I’ve held has required transparent handling of funds entrusted to my care, and I have done that well.
How does your Christian faith shape your perspective on leading well?
God has gifted me with all that I have, and I know that I am responsible for those gifts. In leading, I am keenly aware that I am a steward of resources and relationships. My faith has formed me so that I see leadership through the lens of Christ’s life lived.
How has ACL encouraged or equipped you as a librarian?
I believe that ACL is central to my practice as a librarian. Professional development, mentorship, spiritual encouragement, friendship, laughter, and connection are found in ACL. ACL has been there for me, encouraged my soul, and given me opportunities for service.

How does your Christian faith shape your perspective on leading well?
We are called to be good stewards of the resources God has given us. This is how I approach the role of Treasurer in seeking to advance the work of the association while also balancing the need to be responsible with the funds with which we have been entrusted. With grace and humility I seek to serve the Lord and the members of the association through the role as Treasurer.

Library Director, Southern Nazarene University
ACL Service
- Member since 1995
- Conference Workshop Presenter (2014, 2016)
How can your skills and experience serve the Association well?
I have been a librarian in Southern Nazarene University for 28 year. I have served as reference librarian and I have now been serving as Library Director for about 4 years. I have been a member of ACL for almost 30 years. I believe that those experiences in these positions and relationships built in ACL will help me serve the association well.
How does your Christian faith shape your perspective on leading well?
Christian faith shapes my perspective on leadership because Jesus is our model for leadership. He began with sacrifice by coming to experience human suffering so that he leads the redemption cause by carrying our burdens to Calvary. He also did it with humility by putting us first and considering the lowly of the society. Jesus also modeled integrity in His leadership without which no person will ever lead a faith-based group to success.
How has ACL encouraged or equipped you as a librarian?
ACL has encouraged and equipped me as a librarian because I have taken time to attend most of the conferences and learn from great people and members who love the Lord and have done well in the field. I have occasionally made a presentation and be on panel discussion groups.
SOMETHING FUN ABOUT ME:
I love people especially those of the faith.

How can your skills and experience serve the Association well?
The Association has a heart for providing resources, services, and connection for its members. I feel my experience as an academic librarian helps me to understand avenues for training and resources that will benefit the ACL community. In addition, my experiences as a member of ACL lead me to provide support and encouragement in whatever capacity I am able for our members facing challenges and change.
How does your Christian faith shape your perspective on leading well?
My desire is to follow the example Jesus gave with being a servant leader. Listen more, be patient, encourage others around me, be open to new ideas, be ready to contribute, and ensure all my decisions have a biblical foundation. I am trying to grow so that everything I do will allow for the Lord’s plan and my obedience.
How has ACL encouraged or equipped you as a librarian?
ACL has provided encouragement through prayer and connection with like-minded librarians. It has provided professional training that has helped me with understanding the ins and outs of instruction and professionalism as a Christian librarian. I have also learned new skills with indexing and have a greater understanding of the needs of libraries with the queries often posed in the daily ACL emails.
SOMETHING FUN ABOUT ME:
Something fun to know about me is that I have a twin brother who is 11 minutes older than me (and he never lets me forget it!)

University Librarian, Crandall University
ACL Service
- Member since 2019
- Christian Library Consortium, Member-at-Large (2024–Present)
- Conference Workshop Presenter (2023, 2025)
- The Christian Librarian Book Reviewer (2022)
How can your skills and experience serve the Association well?
I have seven years of experience working at three different Christian university libraries across Canada, which has grown in me a passion for Christian librarianship and an appreciation for how the profession can differ from institution to institution. I have gained considerable committee experience in my current role as University Librarian at Crandall University, where I sit on Senate and Academic Council in addition to chairing various committees. I have strong skills in communication, organization, and strategic thinking, all of which are beneficial for Board positions.
How does your Christian faith shape your perspective on leading well?
I seek to follow Jesus’s example in all I do, including how I lead, and I find that Jesus led by becoming a servant. I seek to exhibit the Fruit of the Holy Spirit in my leadership, particularly by modelling joy, kindness, and gentleness in my interactions with others. I seek to commit all of my activities as a leader to God in prayer, viewing Him as a parent who is really doing the work while I’m His toddler who gets to help out simply because He delights to include me in the process.
How has ACL encouraged or equipped you as a librarian?
I am very grateful for the Christian librarian community of practice in ACL for many reasons, including that this community has helped me think deeply about library issues from a Christian perspective. I particularly benefited from the ACL Mentoring Program, which helped get me established when I first took on my current University Librarian role. It is a great encouragement to me to be part of such a genuinely kind and joy-filled group of people who care about the same things that I do.
SOMETHING FUN ABOUT ME:
My main hobby is creating audiobooks on LibriVox, where my most recurring role is Dr. Watson in the Sherlock Holmes series.
