Describe yourself using a book title: Getting Things Done

What’s the best thing about being a librarian? I love being able to help people and to see them succeed in their academic endeavors.

What are you currently reading? I am currently reading a variety of new parenting books (What to Expect When You’re Expecting, etc.) as my husband and I are expecting our firstborn in June.

Describe ACL in three words: Growth, Professionalism, Encouragement.

How do you (or How have you), as an academic librarian, contribute to your campus? I contribute by serving in our library and by teaching a class on classroom technology to our education students.

My professional career began…in 2017 when the previous librarian retired at my institution and I was transferred to my childhood dream job to oversee library operations. I was given the challenge of earning my library master’s degree while undertaking the colossal project of switching our library collection from Dewey Decimal classification to Library of Congress classification while transitioning the library to a new building on the campus. By God’s grace, both were accomplished in 2019 and 2020, respectively. I look forward to seeing what lies on the path God has for me as my family life and professional life continues to grow.

What do you value about ACL? I love so many things about ACL – I love reading conversations on various topics as it gives me an opportunity to learn as a newer librarian. I love the encouraging words that ACL members share during different situations.

How were you introduced to ACL? My boss recommended I join ACL once I began working in the WCBC Library. It was one of the best decisions!

Do you have any specific interests in the library world? I love technology and intuitive digital tools.
