Director of Library Services – Southwestern Assemblies of God University – Waxahachie, TX

Job Summary

Southwestern Assemblies of God University is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position as Director of Library Services. Primary functions of this position are to manage and develop the learning resources and personnel of the University at all of its locations. This position is 12 month and follows staff vacation policies, and does require at least a Master’s degree.

Job Responsibilities

The Director of Library Services is a faculty member who supervises all public service functions, reference, circulation and acquisitions of the university’s library, and exercises spiritual leadership among staff and students.

Major Responsibilities

  • Participates fully in the process of Institutional Effectiveness, actively facilitates annual assessment processes, and ensures the successful collection of data useful to the purposes of institutional research.
  • Supervises all library personnel, provides appropriate training, and engages in spiritual formation activities with staff and students, cultivating a vibrant Christian community invested in learning.
  • Supervises all library locations and personnel.
  • Develops and supervises library budget.
  • Responsible for purchasing and cataloging books, periodicals, visual aid materials, and equipment to meet academic programs’ needs and accreditation standard.
  • Recommends annual allocations for books and non-book materials for all academic programs.
  • Submit annual reports required by the university and accrediting associations.
  • Implement plans and policies of the library.
  • Provides library instruction to orientation classes and to other classes as requested.
  • Distributes reports to the entire University regarding new procurement and resources.
  • Responsible for conduct and discipline policies within the libraries.

  • Academic qualifications commensurate with accreditation criteria. Masters in Library Science preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of technology and services available in the field of information science.
  • Competence in supervision and planning.
  • Ability to adapt to change and innovation.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff, administration, and students.
