Job Summary
The Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries, WA is seeking a strong, confident, and approachable leader who leads by example, consistently matches words to actions, and inspires people to unite around a shared vision to be their new Executive Director! Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries (FVRL) is the fifth largest library district in the state spanning 4,200 square miles and proudly serving residents of southwest Washington in rural, suburban, and urban settings within Klickitat and Skamania counties and all of Clark County (with the exception of the City of Camas,) City of Woodland, and the Yale Valley Library District in Cowlitz County. FVRL operates a total of 15 libraries with 13 staffed locations, two partially staffed/self-serve libraries and two bookmobiles. FVRL has 624,040 physical items that can be borrowed “fine free.” The District also offers patrons a robust collection of over 144,500 eBook and eAudio items as well as a vast array of digital resources including eMagazines, music and video streaming platforms and educational databases available 24/7.
Job Responsibilities
The Executive Director oversees a team of 289 highly talented employees and an annual budget of $34M. FVRL is an independent taxing district relying on property tax for the majority of its operating revenue. Revenue from property tax is allowed to grow up to 1% annually under Washington state law. Since 2005, the District’s revenue has grown by an average of 3% annually.
Educational/Experiential Requirements
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program or equivalent and ten (10) years of related work experience, including past experience at the Director or Executive Director level with at least five (5) years of supervisory and project management experience.
