Job Summary
This staff position is responsible for managing access services (circulation, interlibrary loan, and reserves) and supervising student employees at the Berntsen Library (https://guide.unwsp.edu/) at the University of Northwestern – St. Paul (https://unwsp.edu/). This position is full-time and reports to the Library Director.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage circulation services (books and audio visual), including the following: activities at the front desk, circulation and billing transactions, inventory, and stacks’ and materials’ maintenance.
- Respond to circulation-related inquiries from patrons and other libraries. Provide circulation desk coverage as necessary.
- Manage interlibrary loan activities mainly using MINITEX and OCLC. Respond to inquiries from patrons and other libraries. Update policies and workflow regularly in order to make best use of vendors, systems, and technology. Train library students on changes, as needed. Maintain appropriate record-keeping and statistics.
- Oversee course reserves. Ensure that items are available to students. Maintain communication with faculty in order to secure educational materials for classroom use and to maintain adherence to copyright guidelines.
- Supervise student employees, including interviewing, hiring, training, and oversight. Assign tasks for all shifts/students. Encourage high service standards and check for accurate completion of tasks in a timely manner. Monitor and approve bi-weekly time cards.
- Maintain copiers and printers, calling for supplies and service as necessary. Maintain supply inventory for materials’ processing and office needs.
- Represent Northwestern at designated Consortium committees.

Educational/Experiential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum of 2 yrs previous related experience required.
- Maintain a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement and Declaration of Christian Community.
