Lenoir-Rhyne University (LR) welcomes nominations and applications for an Adjunct Librarian for Cataloging & Instruction beginning on or before September 2, 2021. The primary purpose of the position is to facilitate the addition of resources to the library collections through acquiring, cataloging, and processing all materials in all formats. This individual must promote excellence in library services through the proactive development and implementation of innovative instruction, development of instructional materials, and participation in reference, collection development and other library service functions. Supports the teaching faculty with the integration of library resources into the curriculum. This position must work effectively with colleagues, staff, and student assistants to advance the mission and vision of the library and the university. They will operate within the guidelines of applicable laws, national library protocols, and university and library policies and procedures. This is an adjunct position of approximately 28 hours per week for 52 weeks per year.
Minimum requirements for this position include a strong knowledge/background in library science including a master's level degree from an ALA-accredited program and a minimum of two years of experience. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of AACRs and RDA cataloging standards, acquisition procedures, ACRL’s Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education and of general library instruction theory and practice; demonstrated teaching experience and familiarity in a variety of pedagogical techniques; a professional attitude with a customer service-oriented perspective; evidence of a collaborative work style that develops a culture of trust among event stakeholders, including LR colleagues and students across the university; demonstrated success in working with diverse populations; and an appreciation of the history and mission of Lenoir-Rhyne University.
