Columbia Bible College invites applications for a 1.0 FTE faculty position in the role of Library Director. The mission of Columbia Bible College is "to equip people for a life of discipleship, ministry, and leadership in service to the church and community". The Library Director contributes to this mission through the maintenance and development of the College library and the resourcing of students in the areas of information literacy and research skills.
The Library Director is responsible for the overall development of the library collection and the maintenance of all related policies and procedures. This role involves connecting with faculty and academic staff to ensure that the library supports the academic programs of the College. This position is responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervision of library staff as well as the development and management of the library budget. This position also involves guiding students in research skills and information literacy, a task that requires familiarity with both traditional and online sources. Columbia's library is part of several post-secondary library consortia and the Library Director has a role in liaising within these networks and providing external reference services through a variety of technologies. The Library Director is an ex officio member of the College Academic Committee.
The successful candidate will have a Master of Library Science degree (or equivalent) and experience in post-secondary library management. Given Columbia's mission, some biblical-theological education is a preference.
