Job Responsibilities

  • Oversees, coordinates, and delivers library instruction under the supervision of the Director
  • Administers the technical aspects of the library’s interface with shared and subscription-based electronic services such as consortia, licensed resources, OCLC, etc.

Educational / Experiential Qualifications

  •  Master’s degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited institution and demonstrated experience managing library systems and services
  • Experience with preparing and delivering library instruction in a classroom setting, acknowledging current standards of instruction (such as the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education) and utilizing current technology and presentation techniques and applications
  • Experience using various library-based information technology services
  • Knowledge of and experience with subscription databases for academic libraries
  • Management, implementation, and/or integration of any discovery layers
  • Understanding of information-seeking behaviors and search strategies used with standard library databases and e-resources
  • Expertise in exploring and evaluating emerging technologies to determine their application to the academic library environment
  • Familiarity with proxy servers
  • Familiarity with using APIs to develop applications for end users
  • Knowledge of and experience with web content management systems
  • Web design and/or webmaster experience
  • Knowledge of, and ability to use, a wide variety of computer programs and applications such as Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) OCLC modules, reference databases and other online tools and resources
  • Knowledge of and ability to use and instruct others in the use of technological resources including photocopiers, and audio/visual equipment, e.g. LCD projectors
