Electronic Resources Librarian (E-Books) - Liberty University - Lynchburg, VA

Working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion, the Electronic Resources Librarian (E-Book) shares leadership in the management of the lifecycle of electronic resources (acquisition, access, administration, support, and evaluation) with a specialization in electronic books. This position reports to the Head of Collection Management.
  • Collaborates with academic units and individual customers to promote and collect feedback concerning the library’s electronic collections.
  • Collaborates with vendors in the licensing and trialing of resources, ensuring compliance with University policies and advocating for library interests.
  • Interacts with Acquisitions Department regarding expenditures for resources.
  • Works with other library departments to ensure discoverability of and access to resources, including proxy access and website visibility.
  • Evaluates and interprets statistical information related to cost and use of resources.
  • Maintains awareness of issues and trends in electronic books and advises library administration accordingly.
  • Takes shifts at Library Customer Service Center and participates in the library’s liaison programs as assigned.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled departmental, library, and university meetings.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in and with diverse populations, supporting an equitable and inclusive environment.
  • Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services, and leading industry performance benchmarks.

  • MLS degree from an ALA-accredited program, or equivalent
  • Commitment to Christian higher education and endorsement of Liberty University’s doctrinal statement
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with integrated library systems
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to effectively interpret and use the results of collection analysis tools
  • Ability to efficiently set and prioritize goals and tasks
