Mentor Program
Purpose
To provide a means of support and direction to Association of Christian Librarians (ACL) members who are:
- Beginning a new position
- Interested in making a position change
- Recent library school graduates looking for positions
- Library school students with an interest in academic librarianship in any type of library that has representation in ACL
- Desirous to learn more from an experienced librarian whose experience matches your career goals
Expectations
- One year commitment, beginning on the date the pair is assigned
- Mentor makes the initial contact to determine the means of ongoing contacts
- Contact should be a minimum of once per month during the year of commitment
- Topics of discussion between the two will be determined by the pair; topics should include but not be limited to:
1) The importance of active participation in the profession, especially in ACL
2) The functional focus of the mentee’s position and how to put that focus in action in a college setting
3) Prayer for one another - Each participant (mentor and mentee) will submit a semi-annual report to the Mentoring Program Coordinator at the date noted on the agreement form
- Each participant (mentor and mentee) will submit a final evaluation of their experience to the Mentoring Program Coordinator
