As a Christian Librarian working in higher education settings, I strongly believe in the power and ability of a professional organization to connect, educate and encourage member librarians in their professional setting, even those beyond Christian colleges and universities. I have worked in a variety of positions from student worker to director in multiple institutions for over 25 years. I have benefited greatly from my membership and participation in ACL for most of those years. As a member of the board, I would work to help facilitate connections, education and support for all Association members.

Robin D. Lang

Instructional Services Librarian
Point Loma Nazarene University

My vision for ACL is to see the association diversify. One of my research interests is diversity with higher education, generally, and within the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU), specifically. The country’s demographics are changing, and higher education is in the midst of great change, as well. Christian higher education must respond adeptly to these changes in order to remain viable, which includes ACL with its emphasis on academic libraries. I have been a member of ACL since the mid-2000s and have watched the organization grow and change over the last decade, but believe it could do better in the area of diversity. I am interested in helping increase the diversity of ACL membership. As a Director-at-large, I would support measures that increase programming and networking opportunities that may be of interest to a more diverse population of academic librarians. Specifically, I would advocate for conference programming around issues of diversity and would seek out input from current members of the association to solicit feedback on how this initiative might be addressed and achieved. I would be a valuable board member capable of helping usher ACL into the next decade because of my research interests and because of my history and experience within ACL.

Kellie Barbato

Director of Lineberger Memorial Library
Lenoir-Rhyne University

As a first-time candidate for the position of Director-at-large, my vision for the Association is developing. If elected to the Board, I would be honored to be among those who have been members longer than I have and learn more about the nuts and bolts of the Association. My learnings as I serve on the Board would continue to inform the development of my vision for the Association. For now, all I can say with certainty is that God is doing great things for the librarianship profession through ACL and I would love to be a part of that work by serving on the Board.
