"You, too, can be an archivist!"
Presented by Shirley Shedd, Archivist, Evangel University. (8:30 am-4:00 pm)
This preconference workshop is designed to help those schools wanting to establish a permanent archives for institutional history
including documents, photos and other artifacts. Topics include developing a mission statement and overall policies for the archives,
assessing current holdings, locating and equipping physical space for the archives, creating a master plan for archival organization,
and providing for ongoing maintenance of materials and integration of new materials.
The workshop features a tour of the Evangel archives including an extensive collection of material from O’Reilly General Army Hospital
which was located on the property where Evangel now stands.
Shirley Shedd, professor emeritus at Evangel University, taught in the Communication Department at Evangel for 25 years prior to her
retirement. Since Fall 2007, she has been the archivist at Evangel. She brings a unique perspective to the Archives as she has been
continuously associated with Evangel since 1958.
