Opening Night Activities: Pickin' Party and Ice Cream Social
After the Welcome Supper and a get together for first-time attendees and their conference mentors, some of the local bluegrass and folk musicians will join us Monday night of conference for a Pickin' Party at the ice cream social.
Pickin’ parties are semi-organized jam sessions using the traditional acoustical instruments--usually guitars, violins, mandolins, banjos, and double basses--to play folk songs in the bluegrass tradition of the Ozarks. Included in this group will be some Evangel faculty members and several pickers who are professional musicians (at least, on the weekends.) We expect to have at least two or three different venues going at the same time. There will be no program and it is a come and go affair. If you have any musical ability with a stringed instrument, you are invited to join in; contact Woodie Moore for details. Click For More Information
Devotional Times
Each day will start with a devotional time of worship and inspiration, coordinated by Carol Reid, of Free Will Baptist College.
Shoji Tabuchi
On Tuesday evening we will travel by bus to Branson for the Shoji Tabuchi Show, one of the area’s top attractions. Shoji and his cast of outstanding musicians and dancers will satisfy musical tastes from country to classical and gospel to popular oldies in a spectacular setting reminiscent of the grand theatres of the 1930’s.
