Position Summary: The Liberty University Integrated Learning Resource Center is seeking an exceptional individual to assume the role of Resource Management Librarian (Acquisitions) to assist in the acquisition and organization of information resources to support the curriculum and mission of Liberty University. The position provides oversight and administrative support to the acquisitions staff in purchasing monographic, reference, traditional format periodical, and multi-media information resources (includes electronic materials except for databases and large ebook collections).
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for oversight of budget within applicable accounts to ensure full spending without exceeding budgetary limits.
- Manages purchase plans, approval plans, and other vendor agreements.
- Manages the Voyager Acquisitions ledger for books and multi-media, and periodicals spending. Maintains vendor records in Voyager.
- Performs catalog maintenance related to periodical subscriptions both in the local catalog and in WorldCat (including local holdings records).
- Submits Banner requisitions for major vendors.
- Proposes and executes plans to improve performance of the acquisitions department.
- Coordinates with the Cataloging Resource Management Librarian to ensure a seamless workflow between acquisitions and cataloging tasks.
- Works with the Head of Information Management to maintain departmental documentation, produce annual reports, and provide collection statistics as assigned.
- Participates in both formal and informal professional development opportunities such as conference attendance, reading, professional research and writing, and/or completion of continuing education courses as approved by the University.
- Fulfills liaison duties including reference, instruction, and/or collection development activities with academic departments as assigned.
Requirements: MLS degree from an ALA-accredited institution, or equivalent. Working knowledge of current acquisitions procedures and practices. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to efficiently set and prioritize goals and tasks. Commitment to professional development. Commitment to Christian higher education and endorsement of Liberty University’s doctrinal statement.
Highly desirable: Professional library and/or supervisory experience. Working knowledge of current periodical cataloging practices including the creation and maintenance of WorldCat local holdings records. Experience using Ex Libris’ Voyager integrated library system and OCLC’s Connexion software. Experience establishing and maintaining purchase or approval plans.
